Mad Fox Brewing Newsletter February 22 – Barleywine Festival Edition

Mad Fox Barleywine Festival February 26 & 27

Washington, DC is excited about the Mad Fox Barleywine Festival. Greg Kitsock at The Washington Post recommends our Barleywine Festival as a great way to “To sample a variety of these connoisseurs’ ales.” Bill Madden has used his extensive industry contacts to pull together a slate of rare and beloved barleywines from his favorite breweries. Rare and unique offerings include A L'abri De La Tempête Brewery Corps Mort, Microbrasserie Le Trou Du Diable Brandy Nose Barleywine, Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Jack & Ken's Black Barleywine, Sierra Nevada Grand Cru and more coming in every day.

This is a great tasting event, with small 4 oz. tasting servings. That’s enough to share with a friend, so that you can taste all 21+ barleywines we’ll be pouring. More information and the up to date beer list is on our Barleywine Festival web page. This is an informal festival with no tickets, admission fees or limited hours. We are going to split the beers on Saturday - half of the beers will be tapped from opening until 4PM, then a change of taps and the second half of the beers on after 4PM. After that, we’ll replace kegs as they run dry. Watch our Facebook and Twitter feeds for real-time tap lists and details. We’ll be working our regular hours and regular service, including seated dining and brunch on Sunday. Imagine a caramel bacon donut alongside your favorite barleywine.

We have two special events coming up:

  • Saturday & Sunday, February 26 & 27 – Mad Fox’s own Barleywine Festival, featuring our house-brewed Headknocker and Slobberknocker Barleywines as well as our Wheat Whacker Wheatwine. No tickets, pay by the taste, available in the dining rooms and Pub. More information and beer list as it becomes available at madfoxbrewing.com/barleywinefest/.
  • Thursday March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day, featuring our Irish Dry Stout and Irish Red Ale. Ask Bill about his Irish passport!

Both the Washington City Paper and the Northern Virginia Magazine are running their annual “Best Of” surveys. Please take a moment to give Mad Fox your votes.
