What's Brewing - September 5, 2011

The brewery gang has been busy keeping our fermenters, serving tanks and casks full. Here's a quick update from Brewer Charlie Buettner.

BREWING: Double batch of Wet Hop IPA on September 1 and September 2 with Australia's version of Citra hops, Galaxy. We have 150 pounds of freshly picked undried "wet" Citra hops that will be overnighted from Washington state that will be added directly to the beer once it has completed fermenting. Normally called dry-hopping, we'll be wet hopping for this beer. You should expect to see this beer in about 30 days.

FERMENTING: FV1 Kolsch (complete. Used Hersbrucker hops in this batch. Going to be the Keller Kolsch for GABF) FV2 Broad Street (almost through fermenting. Dry hop next week.) FV3 Wet Hop (Wet Hops shipping 9/6/11) FV4 Lindy's Weisse (ready to go). FV5 ESB (15bbl. Also ready to go). FV6 Fest (ready to go)

SERVING: SV1 Kolsch, SV2 Porter, SV3 English Summer Ale, SV4 Orange Whip IPA, SV5 India Ink Black IPA, SV6 Strawberry Blonde

GABF: Bottling for GABF competition this week.

Cheers, Charlie
