What's Brewing - October 5, 2011
Here's a quick update from Brewer Charlie Buettner.
We won some FREAKIN' MEDALS!!! And Thank You everyone for making this GABF amazing. I had a blast (pictures to prove it).
BREWING: Ordered Malt for (in order of brewing) 1. English Summer Ale (15bbl) 2. Oatmeal Stout (30bbl) 3. Black Saison (15bbl) 4. Wee Heavy (30bbl) 5. Kolsch (30bbl). Should get the first 3 in the tanks by the end of next week.
TRANSFERRING/FILTERING: Kegging a fresh batch of Rootbeer and kegging the rest of the Punkinator in FV5. Setting up for 2 Hemispheres next Tuesday Tapping.
FERMENTING: FV1 Kolsch. FV2 Empty. FV3 Saison (Capped 9/21. Ready to go). FV4 2 Hemispheres (Wet Hopped 9/9/11. Ready to go). FV5 Empty. FV6 Rye Ale (Cold crashing 10/5)
SERVING: SV1 Kolsch. SV2 ESB. SV3 Oktoberfest. SV4 Weiss. SV5 Punkinator. SV6 Broad Street IPA
CASKS: Fennec & ESB. Rye Ale soon. CCC: Wet Hopped Saison. Sorry Randy, no peach for you.
GOING/GONE: Porter will be gone any day. India Ink, Blonde and Fennec Casks gone by the end of the week.
TT: Tuesday Tapping of Punkinator 10/4. 2 Hemispheres 10/11. Saison 10/18. Rye Ale 10/25. Coming soon English Summer Ale and Keller Kolsch."
CASK WEEK: 11/4 thru 11/11. Brewers night 11/8. I have harassed all the local and some not so local brewers and we are getting a LOT of commitments. Ping your local brewers and tell them they need to com out and play! Brewers Night 11/8. Everybody that I talked to (combined with a lot that are not on this list) want to follow up for Barley Wine Fest.
BARRELS: Looking ahead to packaging the Batch 100 that is aging in our eight 53-gallon Bourbon barrels.
