What's Brewing - October 28, 2011
Here's a quick update from Brewer Charlie Buettner.
BREWING: Wednesday got a 15bbl batch of Punkinator in the tank. This should get us through Thanksgiving. With 5 kegs left of the previous 30bbls (as of 4pm Thurs.) there could be anywhere from 5 - 10 days without it. Today, brewed a 15bbl batch of Molotov Hoptail DIPA. These 2 beers were supposed to be Wee Heavy, but had to get the pumpkin in ASAP - The malty giant will get brewed in the next week or so.
TRANSFERRING/FILTERING: Filled 18 kegs of the Gold Medal Keller Kolsch and the Bronze medal English Summer is in the serving tank and also in cask. We are ready for a Heavy Medal Tuesday Tapping on November 1!!
FERMENTING: FV1 Kolsch. FV2 Molotov Hoptail. FV3 Black Saison (Capped, chilled, Ready to go). Defender APA (Capped and Chilled. Filling casks next week.). FV5 Oatmeal Stout (capped, chilled and filling casks Friday). FV6 Punkinator (bubbly)
SERVING: SV1 Kolsch. SV2 Saison. SV3 2 Hemispheres. SV4 Lindy's Weiss. SV5 Rye Baby Pale Ale. SV6 English Summer Ale.
CASKS: Rye Baby Pale Ale, English Summer Ale. Oatmeal Stout soon. Two Blended Batch 100 and Oatmeal Stout (AMAZING!!! thanks to Brian for working that balance out) for Cask week.
GOING/GONE: St. Swithins ESB has 2 kegs left. Again, Punkinator might not make it through the weekend. Oaked Wee Heavy could be gone by the end of Friday, if not sooner.
TT: 11/1 Heavy Medal. 11/8 Oatmeal Stout. 11/15 Black Saison. Another batch of Kolsch and Pumpkin will be coming out along the way. Defender APA and Molotov Hoptail after that.
CASK WEEK: Working on Mad Fox casks and sourcing casks from our favorite breweries for Cask Week starting November 4th.
BARRELS: Looking ahead to packaging the Batch 100 that is aging in our eight 53-gallon Bourbon barrels.
Thank you to everyone for support what we do in the Mad Fox brewery. We're very exciting about the future!
Cheers, Charlie Buettner
